skate club and lessons

AJ Skateworld is the home of the United States Roller Skating’s Artistic Club: SkatersEdge of Greater Virginia. Join our skating club and make friends, have fun, learn new skills, and compete!

We have World and National Champions teaching the group and private lessons.

Our skate classes are designed for skaters of all ages and abilities. Pre-Register for group classes! $60 for 6-weeks: 6-30 minute group classes, 2 free open sessions, and skate rental included! Call or email for dates and times available ajskateworld@gmail.com.  Class participants should check in (at least 10 minutes before class begins), have skates on and ready to start when class begins. Skaters who are interested in furthering their skills towards competitive Artistic skating will learn basic skills required to pursue their goals. Recreational skaters will learn skills that will increase their enjoyment of skating.

Classes are divided by ability and both Beginner and Intermediate Classes are available. In the Beginner Class, students learn the basic fundamentals of skating, including balance, posture, safety, forward and backward skating, starting and stopping. In the Intermediate Class, students who have mastered the basic skills taught in the beginner class will work on skills that require greater balance and coordination. Students will learn to roll on one foot, both forward and backward, crossing, and turning forward to backward and backward to forward. The class will include an introduction to artistic freestyle.

We have three tracks for skaters that desire to go beyond the basic skills: 1) Artistic/Figure, 2) Speed, and 3) Derby. Call us if you are interested in joining our artistic skating club or pursuing any of these tracks.

AJ Skateworld would like to wish the most sincere condolences to the family and friends of those that we lost on flight 5342. Two of the twenty-eight members of the US Figure Skating community were also roller skaters and club members at AJ Skateworld.  Everly Pearl, Alydia Steele and their parents Peter and Donna Livingston were among members of the skating community who died January 29, 2025. Although they are no longer with us, Everly and Alydia’s legacy will inspire skaters forever. Attached is a short bio of their roller skating career.
Donations in their memory can be made to the Roller Skating Museum
